Josephine R. Esquibel
I'm old fashioned, an old soul, and extremely focused on building trust with my clients. I honor all things that would lead one to success: hard work, going above and beyond, honesty, respect and loyalty.
I love to cook, be outdoors, hike, hangout with family, and garden. I'm a wilderness girl so anything in the mountains, horseback, skiing, swimming is my kind of thing.
I also am a huge animal lover and have a mini-farm with a bunch of chickens.
My Story
Born and raised in the sticks of Southern Michigan, my heart longed for the west since I was a little kid. We traveled to Colorado for decades before I decided to move out west by myself. Starting in Boulder, CO and going to school at CU, having too much fun and finding my way back home I found myself again out west in Utah searching for a missing piece of my soul! Taos, NM was my calling and someone said I would love it, I moved here and haven't left since. Going on 13 years being here and only 33 years old, you could say the mountains had a strong hold on me. The Rocky Mountains, but more specifically the Sangre de Cristos.
This place has changed my heart for the better and brought me the most beautiful mixed family (my husband's a Taoseno). We live on his family's 500 year old land and feel the roots of Taos everyday! Conquistador and Native history fill this air, soil, and water. People move to Taos not because it's charming or cool, people move to Taos because the mountain struck a cord in their heart and they can't live without the beautiful community, comradery, history, and overall magic that sets into your soul as the sun rises and sets over our gorgeous mountains. You won't just move to Taos, Taos will move you and move mountains in your life that you never thought possible. Sometimes the mountain tells us it's our time to leave in hopes that we will be welcomed back with open arms. Those who have a good and pure heart tend to stay, but will be sought with quite the path of growth and personal transformation. Taos isn't just a town, an area, a word meaning Red Willow, Taos is a feeling, a high, a hike in nature or in the ski valley and ripping it down through the fresh snow. This is home to many locals whose families have been here for centuries or even generations, lets not forget the fact that the Pueblo is estimated to be as old as Santa Fe (2,000+ years).
We have a way of life and the mountain demands respect while your dreams will play out in real life in front of you. It may not always be easy as we are like a little island in the high desert, but it will be a life treasured whether you're coming or going, and just like the ocean, where the mountains meet the sky, the magic of Taos will smooth out the jagged edges of your soul. Chill out, sit back, and slow down to the land of Tomorrow aka the Land of Enchantment (or for me the land of entrapment)!!! Happily forever stuck in Taos!
